PWA 2008 Conference

Welcome to the conference website of the UCSB Professional Women's Association! In your navigation, you will learn about the background of our presenters, as well as the diversity in workshop offerings. This conference is designed for women of all generations and backgrounds. An inspiring day is waiting to be experienced by YOU!

This marks our 12th year in which an awesome daylong event is scheduled on Tuesday May 6, 2008 from 8 am - 4:30 pm in Corwin Pavilion at UCSB. The intent of this year’s theme is to move our female audience to conduct a self-exploration in considering the question:

Remarkable Lives. Remarkable Legacies. What’s Yours?

Our featured keynote is Barbara Lanz-Mateo, Publisher and Founder of Coastal Woman Magazine. In sharing her reflections, challenges, and experiences of her life journey, we believe the audience of listeners will be moved and inspired. Throughout the conference, you will note the myriads of ways in which our contemporaries are living notable lives while creating remarkable legacies for current and future generations.

We will also be sharing “10 Things I Pledge to Myself” (pledge written by First Lady Maria Shriver and The Women's Conference). Our intent is that this be used as a tool to assist you in identifying and implementing your own legacy.

In addition to these tremendous offerings, merchandise will be available for purchase during the mid-day. Professor Sabine Frühstück’s book, “Uneasy Warriors: Gender, Memory and Popular Culture in the Japanese Army” (University of California Press, 2007). Also, Joslyn Gray of JP Monkey will bring in her line of reusable shopping bags.

We look forward to seeing you then!
