Kirsi Aulin is a native of Finland, and she holds an AB in French Literature from Bryn Mawr College and a M.S. in Counseling Psychology from California State University at Northridge. Kirsi is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. In addition to having a private practice, Kirsi has held various counseling positions where she has worked with children, families, and AIDS patients. Before coming to the Office of the Ombuds, she worked with UCSB students at Student Health where she helped develop the stress management program for students that introduced such services as individual stress counseling, meditation, and massage. Kirsi is also an artist, and her oil paintings have been exhibited throughout Santa Barbara, including the Faculty Club here on campus. She is also happily involved in her husband Bara’s catering business African Catering. She has an 11 year old son, with whom she is an avid Avatar, the Last Airbender fan and she and her family speak both English and French at home.
