Sabine Frühstück trained in Japanese Studies, Sociology and Philosophy at the University of Vienna. She had several research stays primarily in Tokyo and Kyoto (about 5 years total). She then came to UCSB in 1999 as assistant professor and has been a professor since 2005. Sabine is also fluent in German and Japanese.
