Virginia K. Johns (Ginny) began working at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) immediately after receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Music-Vocal Performance at that institution in 1974. She worked in an academic department, an organized research unit, and the Office of Research for the first 8 years. She then changed careers and went to work in the Information Systems and Computing department, managing student systems. Since 1995 she has been in the Office of the Registar.
At UCSB she has been a part of the Mentor and Mediation programs and has served as President of the UCSB Professional Women’s Association. She received her MBA from California State University, Northridge in 2000.
She has been a member of Soroptimist International of Santa Barbara since 1999, serving as its President for two years. You may know this service club from its signature community project: Safety Town.
She loves to sing, sail, and spend time with family including two granddaughters.
